Dylan Lewis is the perfect host

Daniel was very nervous to begin with

Freak in Angel suit was amazing

The demos were cool the stand out was the Neon Ballroom one (1998)

The demos being shown are different for each show

Dan was vaping on stage

He shouted out Chris and Ben multiple times

I think Silverchair are getting back together, the future where Mind Riot becomes a band with Dan, Chris and Ben , Israel’s son is called “Start to heal”

There is an amazing version of Israel’s Son called (start to heal) by mind riot that you hear in full.

The movie is ok, lots of fan service and a really cool ending (stay after the credits)

I record the whole thing and will upload soon (audio not video)

Bonus: We got to see Paul Mac

I remembered some more things.

11. We got to hear Machina Collecta demo in FULL finally!

12. The Luv Your Life demo he recorded on his 8 track is actually incredible

13. You get to hear a re recorded version of Asylum in the movie.

Audio is currently being uploaded to Internet Archive this platform was chosen because it’s neutral and cannot be monetized!

Brain Dump...
- We got to hear a 1998 demo that didn't make it onto Neon Ballroom. I can't remember the name but it started with All. It reminded me of Untitled meets Something in the way by Nirvana.
- We got the Silverchair recorded demo of Machina Collecta
- We got the demos of Luv Your Life and Across the Night
- Also got to hear a new song called Melody
- Daniel did a shout out to thank Ben and Chris a few times
- Paul and Daniel shared some lovely stories about recording and how they consider the stuff they've recorded/written together a trilogy
- Dylan was a great host and made Daniel feel at ease as he was super nervous when he first came out
- Daniel drew/wrote on the water bottles that Dylan, Dan and Luke were drinking from
- Dan said he has so many songs written/recorded
- He lost a lot of the physical demos he had. Luckily some people made copies
- The movie was very short. I knew it was a featurette but thought it would be longer. I really enjoyed it. Make sure you stay until the end credits. The end was very real and so nostalgic it made me cry.
- Beautiful evening that I'm sure I've missed a heap of stuff. I'll add it as I think of things!
"All the time in the world" was the 1998 demo. Thanks rjshredda_music
Oh, Dan was awarded a special Aria award. It's a new silver award I think they said. Massive big plaque. Super cool for Future Never.

Ok: here’s my brain dump…
-Amazing. I cried, I laughed
-I didn’t get merch coz the show started before I made it to the end. Line up was lonnnng.
-He was SO nervous. Bless his heart! He warmed up by the end.
-Dylan had the best energy! Perfect host. -The conversation with Paul Mac was very interesting.
-He got an Aria award (which was a surprise).
-Film was beautiful.
-So glad I didn’t leave as the credits rolled because there was another film clip after that, and I sung at the top of my lungs (suggest you do the same).
-I think someone got kicked out towards the back (bottom)? Maybe someone can confirm
-first part is conversation on the couch, including demos, interval, then film.
-started pretty much on time from Memory (maybe 10min after)
-no filming or phone use (which actually made it even better because you weren’t seeing a bunch of screens in front, it was just intimate and raw and beautiful
-each show will show different demos, and of course the convo will be different (he should also be less nervous in the later ones)
-Paul Mac was only tonight
-for those waiting, sounds like it will be released.. they were doing lots of filming and photos tonight. They referred to it as a premiere.. I thought it sounded very much like it would eventually be viewable by others (don’t hold me to that)
-to the woman behind me in the merch line when I had to bail, I hope you got to the end and got what you wanted & hope your night was beautiful

A quick recap.

Some cool demos played: Unheard Neon Ballroom track Luv Your Life band demo Machine Collecta studio version Melody DJ solo track Also some good songs played over the speakers between the who and the film intermission.

Paul Mac was insightful but not on stage too much. Talked about the process of working with DJ. They both refereed to Diorama, Dissociatives and YM as being a ‘trilogy’.

Dylan Lewis was OK. Didn’t press with any hard questions, just lots of affirmations.

The other man on the stage (forgotten his name already) was a massive pain the arse, a total waste and seemed like another hanger-on.

The film was cool. Dialogue was a bit cringey though. Stay for the end credits though :)

Overall the evening was a bit of a let down.

Missed the fact he said he had hundreds of new songs ready to go, Dylan asked if an announcement was coming and there wasn’t really a concrete answer but it felt like we might hear them.

The night was a bit weird, I got the feeling it was his team trying to prove to him that he can be okay on stage again and that he has people who still care. It felt like Dylan (and the other dude) were spending most of the night making sure DJ was calm and comfortable and exclaiming how exciting it was that he was in public again.

Also Neon Ballroom demo was really good.

Just got back from it.

It was hugely emotional and Dan was anxious to start. That said, he soon came to be at ease and it felt like a moment of catharsis.

All the demos were amazing, a lot sounded fully fleshed out but maybe missing a few orchestral flourishes. New demo was lovely too.

I disagree with OP on the others; Dylan Lewis was hilarious from start to finish and Luke Eblen was clearly there for support. They were there to keep things light and were clearly there to support Dan. I thought they did a superb job and the evening was funny and emotional in equal measure. Dan gave a few shout outs to Chris and Ben throughout the night too. Paul Mac was also a delight and insightful.

Absolutely loved it and I think Dan did too.

Sorry you thought it was a let down. I got to live out my teenage dreams of chilling on a couch with dan and his mates just shooting the breeze. It was fucking amazing in my opinion. I think others might have expected something other than what was on the tin. They gave what they sold. 11/10 would recommend. Edit: also the other guy was Luke, his mate and partner in chaos/creativity. If you paid attention to them whilst the videos were showing, you could clearly see both Luke and Dylan were there for moral support. There weren't meant to be any hard questions. Dan was so nervous at the beginning, and they just kept giving him hugs and love, and by the end I think Dan had relaxed into it. Brilliant evening

If Dylan was allowed to just flow and manage DJ then it would have been fine, but he kept getting interrupted. You can tell he was getting annoyed. He knew exactly what he needed to say and do to keep DJ calm and focussed but there wasn’t enough opportunity.

YES! Dan & Dylan we’re bouncing off each other fine, it was calm & relaxed between them most of the time, but Dan’s dickhead cling-on mate kept interrupting & also the crowd kept cheering & yahooing over important things being said by Dan. I get being excited, I cried as soon as I walked into the theatre & when Dan came out, but me personally I was there to hear the man the myth the legend talk & open up, which it felt like he wanted to do but the crowd was just too stupid rowdy to let both Dan open up & Dylan facilitate it. His mate Luke had nothing of substance to contribute & just derailed good conversation between Dan & Dylan. I don’t care if he was there to be supportive, he clearly had no idea of when to pick his time to speak or shut up.

You hit the nail on the head, man. Huge Daniel Johns and Silverchair fan, but the unstructured nature of it all, with that Eblen guy constantly trying to cash in on laughs when Dylan was being funny was extremely irritating. It derailed any momentum with Dan getting anything of substance out. It felt like too many crowd affirmations and barely any questions. I think Daniel wasn't asked more than 7 questions all night. Extremely disappointing night for me and the wife given the price too.

There was most definitely a sense of huge anxiety at the very beginning that I don't think will be as present at the following shows. You'll be pleased to know he got a standing ovation immediately and so much love and cheers when he kept repeating "I feel like I'm going to throw up" / "so nervous" etc. he joked that he was going to take a valium before coming on stage but didn't. He definitely was laughing though after a few minutes into it and for the rest of the night.

He and Dylan cuddled a lot and his hair to me looked very freshly blonde. :)

My favourite comment from Dan during the evening was when describing he and Paul's ability and process of music making together. He said something like "the best way I can describe it is when you fall in love with someone and you can finish each other's sentences - NO come on Don't get the wrong idea". 🤭 It was sweet and also then funny.

Similarly, Paul said he saw his role as being there (musically) to make his friends dreams (wild musical ideas) come true.

That was honestly my favourite moment. I love them both!

Omg
It was amazing.
Dylan Lewis hosted.
Dan came out so nervous and meek. But as he felt the love in the room he loosened up and was more himself.
Such a special experience. The demos he shared with us were honestly perfect. We even got to listen to the unreleased Silverchair track Machina Collecta which was bangin.
The film is perfect. It feels healing. Its beautiful. The audio is haunting and phenomenal. So many Silverchair tracks reimagined as well as Daniel's solo work.
Im so thankful he shared with us in such a warm and welcoming environment.
Such a wonderful eve!
I also loved that Daniel mentioned along the lines of its really hard being a Silverchair fan. As i kond of just took that away. Didn't give them a chance of the send off they wanted.

Dana Chapman
I enjoyed it but I kinda wish I heard more behind the scenes stories or something. I can’t put my finger on it but I felt it was missing something (don’t shoot me everyone haha)
I couldn’t hear their little chats between themselves either sometimes which didn’t help lol
The movie was cool. I loved hearing the demos though I have Machina Collecta filmed from when I was at Groovin The Moo haha but loved hearing it loud!
Dylan is a crack up! Hopefully Daniel’s nerves settle more as the shows go on

Jodie Mackay
It was such an epic night! Dylan was an amazing host! Daniel did good, despite his nervousness!
Yes, people did get kicked out. There were 3 chicks directly behind me, they were talking almost non stop and were also using their phones!!

Sil Len:
So booody rude hey. I could hear people talking as I left saying “that was shit” “didn’t even sing”, I felt like yelling “THE TICKET SAID IN CONVERSATION DUMBA**” but there’s usually not much point arguing with people like that. If people don’t appreciate art, they’ll have that opinion, and that’s just sad for them.

Daniel Bailey
I’d be surprised if he doesn’t release a soundtrack. There was a few songs that have been re-recorded for the movie including those thieving birds part 3, I heard a few medleys of some young modern tracks. And I’m not well versed in dans solo stuff but there was some cool songs playing during the interval before the movie started that sounded very Beatles influenced. And the version of Asylum at the start of the movie was really good.
