Sony has archived Tuesday night's exciting live Internet show from the
Troubadour in Los Angeles in Real Audio 3.0 format.
To listen to the show (which featured 18 songs, many from the new album "Freak Show"), click on the link at silverchair's official home page, www.chairpage.com.
The netcast was one of the top three Internet events of all time, reportedly drawing more hits than mass appeal mainstream artists Blowie and the Hootfish (or however you say it).
Here, courtesy of Mike Amburn of chairpage.com, is the set list for the show:
'Net connected fans from places as far away as Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas and Georgia flew to L.A. for the show, as did people from other parts of California. One of them, Brian from Novato, filed a report for the Faultline Mailing List shortly after he got home. Here's some of what he had to say:
"Daniel had many comments between songs, like 'take off your clothes and get naked' or 'this song is dedicated to all the freaks like you' and he'd point to the crowd. He requested at one point that all the girls take off their clothes. A couple of chicks took off their bras and one chick [threw] her shirt on stage. After the song he put the shirt on his head and then later took it off because he said he didn't think he should wear it [because it made him look like a girl.] He introduced 'Pop Song for Us Rejects' by dedicating it to Ben 'because I love him.'
"After 'Paranoid,' Ben and Chris departed and Daniel played 'Cemetery.' Chicks were screaming over him playing and they also hit him with somebody's bra.
"Chris and Ben returned, with Ben wearing the bra that hit Daniel. This got the crowd going. 'This song is about the day after today,' Daniel said before they played 'Tomorrow.'
"Next, Daniel announced another new song. 'This song is called 'The Door.' It's about -- a door.'
"The encore began with 'No Association,' which was the second best tune of the night. It was the best hop and mosh at the same time song. The best song of the night was 'Lie to Me.'
"'This song has to do with Jesus," Daniel said, and Chris began 'Israel's Son.' At the end Daniel beat the hell out of Ben's cymbals and the show was over."
